Not all of the families on your favorite classic TV shows are as lovey-dovey as they appear to be on screen. But some of our favorites really can’t stand one another in real life. Happily though, the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation is the happy family we imagine them to be.
Some 18 years after their last big screen adventure in Star Trek: Nemesis, they all still hang out with one another, and find a way to spend quality time. Not just at Star Trek conventions either. And they’re not letting the Coronavirus stop them from being together….in a virtual sense, anyway.
But because of COVID-19, the former crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise aren’t able be in close proximity to each other. However, they didn’t let social distancing stop them from celebrating the birthday of Marina Sirtis, who played Counselor Deanna Troi. Almost the entire main cast of TNG got together on Zoom recently to wish their friend a happy birthday, and her on-screen love Jonathan Frakes (Captain Riker) shared a screenshot of the virtual party via his Twitter.
Most of the original TNG-era crew was there, including Gates McFadden (Doctor Crusher), who shared a different screen shot of the same virtual get together. The only original cast member who couldn’t make it was Denise Crosby, who played Tasha Yar in season one.
Hopefully we’ll see all of these actors share the screen again soon. Brent Spiner, Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis all guest starred in Star Trek: Picard’s first season, and Whoopi Goldberg agreed to appear in season two. We’d love to see the rest of the cast sign on for season two soon as well. I for one can’t wait to see what’s become of Geordi, Worf, and Beverly and Wesley Crusher. Legions of Trek fans will shed happy tears if and when they see this beloved ensemble reunite on screen once more.
