Star Trek: Starfleet Academy is gearing up for what will be its second and final season. The first round introduced us to an ensemble of charming new characters, many of whom Trek fans gravitated towards. Both seasons were filmed close together, and sadly Starfleet Academy was cancelled shortly after its debut. But let’s not focus on that now. Let’s celebrate the news that we got during the Star Trek NYCC panel, where we learned that Starfleet Academy season two will premiere in March 2027 and there are two big names, Bill Nighy and Rosemarie DeWitt, joining the cast.
Nighy will play Nahla’s estranged father, Nyk Ake, and DeWitt will play Tarima’s mother, Laytha Sadal, the First Lady of Betazed. Very interesting additions, indeed. The USS Athena is sure to be full of more friendship, drama, and apparently a new cadet who will raise some eyebrows and questions as well. Fans in the room got an exclusive look at the next season, so we should be expecting a teaser trailer for Star Trek: Starfleet Academy to land in the near future.
