Sony Shells Out $457 Million Dollars to Buy PEANUTS Franchise

The Peanuts franchise is apparently worth more than just a few peanuts. Sony Pictures Entertainment and Sony Music Entertainment have gained majority ownership in the Peanuts franchise, and the purchase price was a mind-boggling 457 million dollars. The company scooped Peanuts up from Canadian based media conglomerate Wild Brain.

Of course, Peanuts creator Charles Schultz’s family will still get 20% of what the franchise rakes in. Decades after introducing Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Woodstock, and other beloved characters, this adorable animated world continues to grow with new specials for another generation of kids.
