PUSS IN BOOTS Sequel Reveals First Trailer and Star-Studded Cast

Shrek definitely ranks as one of the best original movie franchises of our generation. But like with many other excellent properties, sometimes, the side characters steal the show. And that definitely happened with one Puss in Boots. Who can forget the adorable but devious entrance Puss in Boots made in Shrek 2? And his starring turn in 2011 film, Puss in Boots. Well, eleven years later, Puss in Boots is making a comeback. And he’s doing it in style, with a trailer and some excellent casting news for Puss in Boots: The Last Wish that includes one Florence Pugh.

A release for the movie shares:

This fall, everyone’s favorite leche-loving, swashbuckling, fear-defying feline returns.

For the first time in more than a decade, DreamWorks Animation presents a new adventure in the Shrek universe as daring outlaw Puss in Boots discovers that his passion for peril and disregard for safety have taken their toll. Puss has burned through eight of his nine lives, though he lost count along the way. Getting those lives back will send Puss in Boots on his grandest quest yet.

Academy Award® nominee Antonio Banderas returns as the voice of the notorious PiB as he embarks on an epic journey into the Black Forest to find the mythical Wishing Star and restore his lost lives. But with only one life left, Puss will have to humble himself and ask for help from his former partner and nemesis: the captivating Kitty Soft Paws (Oscar® nominee Salma Hayek).

In short, “This fall, everyone’s favorite leche-loving, swashbuckling, fear-defying feline returns.”

But that’s not all. Although fans of  Shrek 2‘s audacious cat will love that Banderas and Hayek return. This film will see a host of new characters join the fun. And their casting is fitting for a 2022 movie. On their daring adventure, Puss and Kitty will get the help of Perro. Perro is described as “a ratty, chatty, relentlessly cheerful mutt,” voiced by What We Do in the Shadows‘ Harvey Guillén.

But the true beauty comes in the casting of the villains. “Our trio of heroes will have to stay one step ahead of Goldilocks…and the Three Bears Crime Family, “Big” Jack Horner,  and terrifying bounty hunter, The Big Bad Wolf.” Goldilocks will be played by none other than Black Widow’s Florence Pugh. Florence Pugh certainly did have golden locks as Yelena, perhaps that’s what inspired this Puss in Boots: The Last Wish casting? Meanwhile, John Mulaney will voice “Big” Jack Horner. And Wagner Moura joins as The Big Bad Wolf. A star-studded back of villains, without a doubt.

Additionally, “Olivia Colman, Ray Winstone (Black Widow), Samson Kayo (Sliced), Emmy nominee Anthony Mendez (Jane the Virgin), and Tony nominee Da’Vine Joy Randolph (Trolls World Tour)” round out the cast of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish

That is a lot of excellence befitting of one excellent cat.
