There have been countless adaptations of Sherlock Holmes. There’s something about that crafty and extremely brilliant spy that people just can’t seem to get enough of. And, quite recently, CBS even did a modern reimagining of this right hand man Watson. Sadly, that show was canceled after two seasons, but there’s another famous Holmes character who will come to the small screen. Deadline reports that there’s a Moriarty series coming from Fremantle and Archery Pictures that will focus on Sherlock’s arch nemesis.

According to the team behind this project, the Moriarty series will be a “modern reinvention of the crime procedural, based on the most famous villain in all of detective fiction.” In it, Moriarty is a Professor of Criminal Psychology at Durham University. However, he leads a secret life as the mastermind behind virtually every calculated crime in England.
Things heat up when a rival criminal begins to trifle with his underground empire. So, Moriarty joins the police as a consultant, using the law as a weapon to dismantle his enemy while keeping his true identity hidden from authorities. He partners with Detective Imogen Burrows, but Moriarty will soon realize that the real threat isn’t what he thinks it is.
Honestly, this sounds like a vibe. It is not clear if Sherlock Holmes will appear in any fashion in this upcoming Moriarty series. And, there’s no casting news nor any info about when it will start filming yet. But our eyes are open for sure.
