SCREAM 8 Is Officially in the Works, Zuckerman Sisters to Pen Script

In news that is not shocking to anyone, Scream 8 is officially in the works. Kevin Williamson previously said that he chatted with Neve Campbell about ideas for the next installment. And, even though he does not want to direct nor write Scream 8, Williamson is very supportive of the franchise moving forward. According to Deadline, Poker Face showrunners Lilla and Nora Zuckerman will write Scream 8.

Interestingly, they also wrote the pilot for the now-cancelled Buffy reboot New Sunnydale. So it’s nice to see them bounce back so quickly with a new mission at hand. Scream 7 was admittedly not our favorite scary movie but it struck a chord with fans in general, racking up over 200 million bucks globally since its February 2026 release.

We aren’t sure where this story will go next but we can assume that Neve Campbell will return as Sidney Prescott Evans. Perhaps we will even get to meet her two younger kids, who were conveniently absent in Scream 7. It’s not clear where this story could go next but we do have a few ideas. We won’t get into them just in case you haven’t seen Scream 7

Maybe a few other survivors will return in some fashion for Scream 8. Perhaps the next killers are a part of a weird cult. Or, at this point, send Ghostface to space. It really doesn’t matter because people will watch it.
