SINNERS, FANTASTIC FOUR Carry Saturn Award Nominations

We love movies and TV here. We especially love movies and TV of the science fiction, fantasy, and horror variety. After the 2026 Oscar nominations dropped last week, the world is buzzing about award season. Sinners scored big at the noms, making history with the most Oscar nods of all time. That momentum continues forward into the nominations for the 53rd Annual Saturn Awards, which dropped earlier today. Sharing in the film’s glory are a few of our other favorites, including The Fantastic Four: First Steps and Avatar: Fire and Ash—each with 12 nods. Stranger Things, Dexter: Resurrection, and IT: Welcome to Derry are celebrating big wins on the TV side. Here are some of our favorite highlights from the 2026 Saturn Award nominations.

Sinners – 12 nominations

Ryan Coogler’s Sinners is a film we’ll never forget. The masterful vampire flick earns 12 nominations at this year’s Saturn Awards, well-deserved of the recognition. Michael B. Jordan, Hailee Steinfeld, and Miles Caton all receive nods for their stellar performances. The film is also nominated for Best Thriller Film, Best Film Direction, and Best Film Screenwriting.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps – 12 nominations

Tied with Sinners and Avatar: Fire and Ash for the highest number of nominations is The Fantastic Four: First Steps. It’s a warm revitalization of the superhero genre. Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn work wonderfully together as Marvel’s first family, with three out of the four earning acting nods (justice for Johnny). FF also clinched noms for Best Cinematic Film Adaptation, Best Film Direction, and Best Visual/Special Effects.

Wicked: For Good – 9 nominations

Wicked: For Good was snubbed at the Oscars this year, receiving a shocking total of zero nominations. That’s not so much the case for the Saturns. The monumental sequel claimed nine nominations, including Best Fantasy Film, Best Actress in a Film (Cynthia Erivo), and Best Supporting Actress in a Film (Ariana Grande). After dominating the box office, the musical finally gets its flowers.

Avatar: Fire and Ash – 12 nominations

Although one of the more recent picks of the bunch, Avatar: Fire and Ash is making a splash this award season. In addition to two Oscar nominations, it now has 12 Saturn awards to its name. Major categories include Best Science Fiction Film, Best Film Direction, and Best Visual/Special Effects. Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington both earn nods for their leading roles in the visual spectacle.

Superman – 8 nominations

Between Fantastic Four and Superman, this summer was packed with superhero action. Both visually exciting and layered, Superman is one of the better superhero flicks we’ve gotten in a while. James Gunn wins a nomination for his direction of the movie, with David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan both earning recognition for Superman and Lois Lane. It’s also up for Best Cinematic Film Adaptation.

Stranger Things – 5 nominations

Moving into the world of TV, Stranger Things picks up five nominations. The explosive series wrapped up its fifth and final season on the cusp of the new year. Even though it had its issues, it was a big, bold, and bittersweet end. Millie Bobby Brown, Sadie Sink, and Noah Schnapp all claim acting nods for their roles. The series is also up for Best Fantasy Television Series.

IT: Welcome to Derry – 5 nominations

In the wake of Stranger Things ending comes another show centering around a group of kids being terrorized by a sinister monster. IT: Welcome to Derry is a delightfully horrifying series. After the conclusion of its first season, the series is in the running for Best Horror Television Series. Two of the show’s younger faces also receive recognition: Arian S. Cartaya (Rich) and Clara Stack (Lilly).

Dexter: Resurrection – 6 nominations

Carrying on the legacy of the serial killer who kills killers is Dexter: Resurrection. With six nods, the spin-off claims the most award nominations for the TV categories. Michael C. Hall, for his portrayal of Dexter, is up for Best Actor in a Television Series. The series also claims a nom for Best Thriller Television Series. Dexter: Resurrection has already been renewed for season two.

Andor – 5 nominations

Andor is pulling five nominations in the race, including Best Science Fiction Television Series and four acting nods. Continuing the epic Star Wars saga, Andor chronologically falls between Rogue One and A New Hope. Diego Luna is being recognized in the category for Best Actor in a Television Series for his portrayal of Cassian Andor.
