Take a First Look at New SABRINA Comic SOMETHING WICKED (Exclusive)

Last year, we were lucky enough to debut the interior art from Kelly Thompson and Veronica Fish’s beautiful Sabrina series from Archie Comics. And this year, we’re super stoked to do the same for the pair’s highly anticipated follow-up arc, “Something Wicked.” As you can see from our gorgeous exclusive pages, Thompson, Fish, Andy Fish, and Jack Morelli are still making magic with their super cute take on the classic teen hero.

Thompson shared that she couldn’t wait to return to the hit series and her creative collaborators. “I was really excited to ‘get the band back together’ for a new volume of Sabrina,” she said. “When Alex Segura told me that Veronica and Andy Fish were back on board for it, there was no question. I wanted in. They brought so much energy and passion to our first volume, and I found myself really wanting to write them something bigger and creepier for Volume Two.”

Fish echoed her collaborator’s excitement. “We were really looking forward to reading what Kelly had planned for the next arc, and as usual, she puts in so much great material to draw,” she said. “It’s been fun for us to craft our version of Greendale together, its creepiness punctuated with comedic moments.”

The official description of the new arc gives us a hint of the misadventures to come after the events of the last series, and they sound like a whole lot of fun:

“Sabrina saved the day—saved her friends, her family—the whole town of Greendale really, and she should be riding high. But things are never quite that simple. She’s trapped in a love triangle, she’s having trouble balancing the mortal and witch parts of herself, oh yeah, and she’s being blackmailed. As if all that wasn’t enough, while trying to help Radka and Ren with their… supernatural problem, her aunts are suddenly starting to look like people she can’t trust. What’s a teen witch to do?”

Though anticipation is high for the second act, the creative team is aware that it’s tough to follow such a beloved book whilst also making it easy for new readers to enjoy. “Sequels are always tricky because you want to reward the fans who want more and deeper stories, but you want to keep your story accessible for new readers too,” Thompson said. “I think we’ve skirted the line pretty well here, where we’ve brought in all the threads we were already developing in Volume One but they’re not so complicated that the average reader can’t jump right in.”

If you can’t wait to check out the new series, Thompson has some killer teases for you about where we find our titular heroine. “Sabrina’s life is a mess, as always! She’s in a love triangle, she’s being blackmailed, she’s leaning into being a witch and failing a bit at being a good human, she’s got some unexpected trouble at home, and…oh…yeah…there’s a serial killer on the loose in Greendale. Because of course there is.”

Thompson continued, “I’m living for the slightly new dynamic between Sabrina and Radka and of course the Sabrina, Hilda, and Zelda family dynamic is really the beating heart of Sabrina—so of course we had to mess with that! But Salem will always be my favorite to write and my favorite to see Veronica and Andy illustrate.”

The biggest thing that Fish wants readers to take away is how much the crew is enjoying carving out their own unique take on Sabrina the Teenage Witch. “I think our take on Sabrina gets to occupy its own space,” Fish said. “It’s not too gruesome and it’s not too silly. I hope readers can tell how much we like being in this world.”
