Patrick Warburton’s Sons Read His EMPEROR’S NEW GROOVE Lines

Actor Patrick Warburton has one of the most distinctive voices in Hollywood. Although he’s had quite a successful career in live-action, he’s probably most famous for his voice acting on projects like Family Guy, Venture Brothers, and most recently, Zootopia 2. But perhaps his most beloved voice acting role was in Disney’s The Emperor’s New Groove, as Kronk Pepikrankenitz, the muscle-bound henchman of Yzma. To celebrate the film’s 25th anniversary, Warburton and his three sons took a trip to Walt Disney Studios. This was in order to see just how close his boys could mimic Kronk’s best lines in the recording studio. You can watch snippets of the highly amusing recording session below:

It’s pretty wild to hear just how close Warburton’s sons Talon, Gabriel, and Shane all sound like their dad. Those are some strong genetics at play. Well, maybe Gabriel sounds the least like him, but he gives it a pretty solid try. Should Disney ever retire the boarding video for the Soarin‘ attraction in their theme parks, which Patrick Warburton hosts, we think Talon could fill in rather nicely. Speaking of the Disney parks, Warburton’s voice is so distinctive that even with robotic filtering for his custom droid character in Star Tours, his inflection is instantly recognizable.

Disney made this video of the Warburtons as part of a 25th anniversary promotional push for The Emperor’s New Groove. The animated film went through a torturous development process before reaching theaters. It was a commercial disappointment when it first came out back in 2000. But as with Disney movies like Hocus Pocus, multiple TV airings helped cement its classic status for a whole generation. It’s nice to see Disney acknowledge The Emperor’s New Groove on its anniversary. Even if it is just with a silly video like this one.
