It’s coming. It’s really coming. It’s really coming, sort of. There will be a Switch 2… announcement… soon. Nintendo recently revealed that the next generation of Switch consoles, colloquially referred to as the Switch 2, would be revealed by April 2025. In a post on Twitter, Nintendo shared, “This is Furukawa, President of Nintendo. We will make an announcement about the successor to Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year. It will have been over nine years since we announced the existence of Nintendo Switch back in March 2015. We will be holding a Nintendo Direct this June regarding the Nintendo Switch software lineup for the latter half of 2024, but please be aware that there will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during that presentation.”
Basically, Nintendo revealed that a Switch 2 is on the way, but don’t hold your breath. Knowing we’ll get more information about the next generation of Switch consoles within this fiscal year is something, we guess. And hey, April 2025 isn’t too long to wait for news about the Switch 2. Having the Switch 2 release by April 2025 would be nicer, but we guess that won’t happen. Hopefully, it will release not too far after, though. At this point, we have no choice but to accept this announcement of an announcement for the Switch 2.
