Want to make a ’90s kid smile with two words? Say “LEGO” and “Game Boy” to them, and you’ll see a positive nostalgic reaction. Well, those two words are about to link up in real life. We’ve learned, via the folks at IGN, that Nintendo just shared a very brief teaser trailer on social media, showcasing a handful of bricks that make up the Game Boy. These include those purple buttons and a directional pad. The teaser doesn’t show off the finished product. But it was enough to get the general idea. A release date of October 2025 was shown for the new LEGO Game Boy. You can check out the brief teaser right here:
This is hardly the first time LEGO and Nintendo have done a collaboration together. We’ve already seen LEGO sets based on Super Mario and Mario Kart, which were apparently very popular and sold well. Other LEGO and Nintendo joint efforts include the LEGO Piranha Plant, a 16-bit Mario and Yoshi from Super Mario World, and a colossal LEGO Bowser. One of the more popular additions with the Nintendo fanbase has been The Legend of Zelda set. A few years back, they created a replica LEGO Nintendo Entertainment System games console. The Game Boy just seems like the logical next step.
So just how much is this LEGO Game Boy going to cost when it arrives this fall? Right now, we really have no clue. With an October release date, it might be some time before we get much more information. The LEGO Nintendo NES that they released was rather expensive, so we hope this one costs a tad less than that one did. Meanwhile, Nintendo fans are eagerly awaiting any news on the Switch 2, and hopefully, some news about that will arrive soon as well. Right now, it seems like April is when official news will finally arrive.
