New STAR TREK Movie Confirmed at CinemaCon

At CinemaCon 2026, Paramount Pictures wanted to reconfirm its commitment to Star Trek. The studio took the time to mention that a new Star Trek movie is in the works, even though they didn’t go into details about the film during the presentation. We’ve heard about this new Star Trek movie already, but it’s good to know the studio is taking its Star Trek seriously, even though Star Trek 4 with Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, and the crew never came together.

In November of 2025, we learned that John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein will write and direct a new Star Trek movie, but it will be unconnected from any previous version. Judging by this team, who are also responsible for Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, the new film might take us on a more comedic, less serious journey. And we’re excited. This new Star Trek movie will serve as a fresh start for the franchise’s cinematic arm. Although we initially thought Paramount might reboot The Next Generation as an easy win, we’re glad it’s going in a new direction. We can’t wait to see Star Trek back on the big screen.

And we’re glad to hear mention of this new Star Trek movie in 2026, although we do wish we could have recieved just a few more details to tide us over. Hopefully, this won’t be like Star Trek 4 with constant updates that lead nowhere. For more on what’s happening at CinemaCon 2026, you can follow our tag here.

In the meantime, we’ll be mourning the Star Trek 4 that wasn’t. We really wanted to see more of Chris Pine’s Kirk and Zachary Quinto’s Spock, older and wise. But, all the same, we are looking forward to the new Star Trek movie that is. Hopefully we will get some more details soon.
