The Internet Reacts to New POKÉMON SCARLET and VIOLET Starters

It isn’t every day the internet gets to celebrate new Pokémon starters. And in all honesty, no one could have expected to celebrate them so soon. With the fairly recent release of Pokémon Legends: Arceus fans didn’t think they’d get a new Pokémon game anytime in the near future. Then again, Pokémon Legends: Arceus featured three starter Pokémon that were already familiar to trainers. So maybe this was the only fair course of action. Either way, during a recent Pokémon Presents, The Pokémon Company announced two new open-world games, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon VioletAnd, finally, fans got to meet Gen 9’s new starter Pokémon: Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly. The internet, of course, went wild.

And honestly, how could the internet not fall in love with these three new Pokémon? One of them is an earnest duck with a cap on its head. That’s a recipe for true love if there ever was one. Plus, no matter which Pokémon is your favorite, if you play the games, you’ll have a special place in your heart for starters. Starter Pokémon are the first Pokémon you meet in the game. And they stick by you for the whole duration. In most cases, starter Pokémon come in grass, fire, and water varieties. Some trainers always gravitate toward one type of Pokémon starter, while others like to mix it up. Let’s see how fans reacted to this latest batch.

To make their Quaxly love clear, one fan used just the right amount of emojis. We have a feeling this Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet is in for a lot of affection.

Meanwhile, a different trainer pledged themselves to the “Grass Cat Pokémon Sprigatito.” Let’s just hope this earthy cat doesn’t knock over all your Poké Balls.

Fuecoco, the new Fire Croc starter Pokémon, got to join in the fun as well.

Another fan perfectly captured the reaction of every artist in the fandom to these Gen 9 starter Pokémon.

And they are absolutely right in their assessment.

We especially love this Kingdom Hearts and Pokémon crossover. Inspired no doubt, by a certain duck.

We also adore this clever Among Us homage. Poor Fuecoco. We don’t think he’s sus. But look can be deceiving…

How these Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet starter Pokémon evolutions might look was on everyone’s mind. As was hinted above, everyone thinks water starter Quaxly could be a relative of Donald Duck. We can’t say if we hope so or not.

One thing is for sure. These new starter Pokémon have caused quite a stir.

We can’t wait to see how much harder they go when Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet release in late 2022.
