Scream 7 is currently in theaters for more slicing and dicing. This installment marks the return of Sidney to the franchise as she fights to protect her daughter Tatum. It will bring elements of the franchise full circle to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the first film. Fans will have to go to the theaters to see what happens but one thing is for sure: Sidney will not die. How do we know that? Well, Neve Campbell and Kevin Williamson are already brainstorming Scream 8 ideas.
It’s not like we thought Sidney would make a triumphant return just to die anyway. But still. It is kind of exhausting to not even let this film ride the big screen wave first before revealing that another installment is likely coming. There’s nothing wrong with those thoughts… just maybe don’t tell the fandom yet.
In an interview with Deadline, Williamson talked about diving into ideas for Scream 8 already. “When you’re sitting on the set at 3:00 in the morning, you’re like, ‘Well, what would Scream 8 be about?’ And you just start spit-balling,” explained Williamson. “And Neve had this great idea, and everyone seemed to run with it. So yeah, if this movie works and people want it, we’re here for the fans. So, if they want it, we’ll certainly give it to them.”

The Scream franchise is so fervent and dedicated that an eighth film is almost inevitable, even with lackluster critical reviews so far for the current movie. And, to be honest, everyone likes money and if people are willing to shell out cash for more Ghostface shenanigans, who are we to stop Neve and Kevin from giving folks what they want? We’ll wait for the inevitable announcement of Scream 8 and eventually see what Neve Campbell’s idea is in maybe 2028.
