Okilly Dokilly, The Ned Flanders Metal Band, Have a New Song

Hi diddly ho there, metal headorinos! The world’s greatest Ned Flanders-themed band is back with an all new track inspired by Springfield’s most famous god-loving, left-handed denizen.

Everyone (who counts) loves Ned Flanders, but only one musical act, Okilly Dokilly, loves him so much they base their heavy metal group entirely on him. From their look to the title and lyrics of their songs, everything they do screams Ned Flanders (minus, well, the screaming).

Those head-banging Flanderseses, who call themselves the only “Nedal” band in the world and currently feature Head Ned (lead vocals, guitars, mandolin), Dread Ned (drums), Shred Ned (guitar, vocals, triangle), Bed Ned (bass) and Zed Ned (synth, vocals), are back with their second full-length album, the righteously titled Howdilly Twodilly, a followup to their 2016 debut album Howdilly Doodilly. It hits stores later this week on March 29th, but we have the premiere of their newest track from the record, “Bulletproof Glass,” a callback to when Ned saved Homer from taking a bullet from Snake.

The real Ned Flanders might think this is the Devil’s music, but we have more of an “eat a waffle wrapped around a stick of butter in our bathrobe on a Sunday” sensibility, so this is right up our bowling alley.

However, the band’s leader Head Ned, told us that when they recorded “Bulletproof Glass” the band tried to take a Ned-like approach, with mixed results. “Our safety inspector did fall asleep on the job and Shred Ned’s solo melted three faces, but otherwise, all particles of rock and/or roll were well contained,” he said.” We hope it’s something everyone can cautiously thrash to.”

Fans can also catch them as they continue their “Reneducation” tour in April, and you can find all dates and venues below. Howdilly Twodilly, with all of its Ned-inspired tracks, is also available for pre-order at iTunes.

If you love Ned Flanders, and why wouldn’t you, heading out to see them play Okilly Dokilly live and buying the record would be the neighborly thing to do.
