Even though he’s getting the lion’s share of the attention these days, David Corenswet isn’t DC Studios’ only Kal-El. There’s also the animated version from My Adventures with Superman, which is heading into its third season. But that Superman, voiced by The Boys’ Jack Quaid, is getting an infusion of ’90s goodness soon. Which you can see in the just-released new trailer for season three. Two characters who debuted in the iconic ’90s DC Comics story The Death and Return of Superman, the clone Superboy and the evil Cyborg Superman, are joining the action in season three. You can watch the full trailer below:
Darren Criss, formerly of Glee and American Crime Story, plays Superboy, the braggadocios and annoying teen clone of Superman. Max Mittelman plays Hank Henshaw, a scientist who creates a robotic body for himself and becomes the murderous Cyborg Superman. In the comics, both characters were two of four “replacement” versions of Superman that emerged after Kal-El died fighting Doomsday. It looks like My Adventures with Superman is skipping the whole “Superman dies” part of the story. Which is good, as that’s become very tired over the past few years.

In the new trailer, we see that Supes is fighting Giganta, traditionally a Wonder Woman villain. Does that mean Diana might show up this season? We’d love to see a version of Wonder Woman that fits this anime-inspired universe. Superman has help, however, as his cousin Kara, a.k.a. Supergirl, is also on hand to save the day. And, of course, Clark Kent’s best buds Jimmy Olsen and Lois Lane (who are both in on his secret in this show) are part of his “Scooby Gang” as well. The new season of My Adventures with Superman premieres on Saturday, June 13, at midnight ET/PT on Adult Swim and streams the next day on HBO Max.
