It is not any kind of exaggeration to say that this collection elevates Masters of the Universe fandom collectibles to the level of high art. In fact, James Jean was literally inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s Battle of Anghiari for the Skeletor 2-pack. This is the kind of recognition fandom deserves. It truly looks like a pair of china figures that one might put in a special cabinet. Everything from the elegant color choices to striking interpretations of the character we know so well hit just the right notes. It is truly fine art come to life in the form of He-Man. Additionally, the He-Man figure features 14 points of articulation and a stylized Sword of Power, shield, battle axe, and interchangeable hands. And he’s truly outdone himself on the MOTU x James Jean Skeletor and Panthor 2-pack. The official description shares, “This Skeletor and Panthor 2-pack channels the darker side of Masters of the Universe through a bold, coral-inspired aesthetic. Drawing from the intensity of Eternia’s battles and the dramatic composition of Leonardo da Vinci’s Battle of Anghiari, the set presents Skeletor as a force of raw emotion and destruction. Like the MOTU x James Jean He-Man and Battle Cat 2-pack, the Skeletor and Panthor figures are so beautiful, you just WANT to own them. The incredible coral-inspired armor and textures really leap from the screen as you look at these figures. And it really makes you consider how incredible they’ll be in reality. The deep red tones really convey the desired intensity and raw emotions. And when juxtaposed against He-Man and Battle Cat, the contrast is so striking. While both draw inspiration from nature, the visual narratives they offer could not feel more different. James Jean’s He-Man brings a calm, balancing force, bringing to mind the tranquility of a flower garden, while Skeletor is wild and unpredictable, red with rage and passion. Both are true forces in the world, and both are uniquely beautiful. It’s true magic.
