Mortal Kombat 11 spoilers follow!
With Raiden and Liu Kang ready to reset time using Kronika’s Hourglass, things are looking as hopeful as they get in Mortal Kombat. But that’s all about to change with the arrival of Nightwolf, Fujin, and Shang Tsung. If you’ve seen the classic ’90s Mortal Kombat movie, you’ll recognize this iteration—one of the coolest things about Aftermath is that Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa is returning to play the villain once again! This time, Shang Tsung has a vital message if they reset time without the crown of Kronika all realities will be destroyed!
On the Playstation blog, NetherRealm explained why Aftermath was a must for the world of Mortal Kombat. “The new chapters in time-twisting narrative of Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath allowed us to give Nightwolf, Fujin, and Sheeva their most sizable roles in any Mortal Kombat game to date. We get to learn more about what drives them, from Fujin’s devotion to Earthrealm’s mortals to Sheeva’s undying loyalty to her empress, Sindel. The story also allows us to see these incredible fighters in action. Our cinematics team has dreamed up a whole host of pulse-pounding action sequences which utilize each character’s signature abilities.”
Fans of Mortal Kombat’s unexpected character cameos will be overjoyed that Peter Weller will be bringing his face and voice to Aftermath via his iconic character Robocop. Even if you don’t plan on purchasing the expansion, fans who own Mortal Kombat 11 will be able to access new stuff, like new stages, like the Klassic Dead Pool and Soul Chamber, and stage fatalities where you can kill opponents with your surroundings. Even the beloved “Friendships” are coming back for those who want to kill friends with kindness!
