It is no secret that The Exorcist is one of the most influential horror films of all-time. From changing the Ouija board’s public perception to crafting scenes that are often imitated, it is a gateway for many horror fans. In 2023, Exorcist: Believer tried and failed to birth a new trilogy of films in this franchise. Now, Mike Flanagan is bringing an original Exorcist story to life with a star-studded cast. What will this film be about and when will it hit theaters?

Here’s everything we know about Mike Flanagan’s Exorcist movie. 

Title

The film does not have an official title at this time. So, for now, we will call it Mike Flanagan’s Exorcist film. 

Mike Flanagan’s Exorcist Movie’s Plot 

There are no plot details at this time except that it will be a “fresh and bold” take on a demonic possession story. We do know that it is not tied to the Believer film but does still take place in the same universe. 

Behind the Scenes 

Of course, Mike Flanagan is directing this Exorcist film but he is also writing and producing it as well. This film is coming from Blumhouse-Atomic Monster and Morgan Creek Entertainment. Filming has yet to start for it. 

Mike Flanagan’s Exorcist Film Cast 

This is the part where we have the most information. Scarlett Johansson will star in a leading role. The rest of the cast is stacked with Laurence Fishburne, John Leguizamo, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Sasha Calle, and Jacobi Jupe. Johansson and Jupe will portray mother and son with Leguizamo as a potential antagonist.

This movie will hit theaters on March 12, 2027.
