Get Your First Look at Marvel’s Stop-Motion M.O.D.O.K Series

We’ve known for quite some time now that an animated comedy series based on Marvel Comics’ villainous M.O.D.O.K. was on its way to Hulu, starring the voice talent of Patton Oswalt. Now, we finally have our first look at what the show is going to look like, thanks to Entertainment Weekly. And it appears as if the stop-motion aesthetic of Adult Swim’s Robot Chicken—also from Stoopid Buddy—was a real inspiration.

You can see the first images of the evil Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing— yes, that’s what the name stands for—in the tweet below:

On Marvel’s first adult oriented animated series, series producer and showrunner Jordan Blum said, “We obviously love the character as this big villain who is always trying to take over the world and run his evil organization. His design by Jack Kirby is so absurd and monstrous that we thought, where does this guy go at night? Does he go home to a house and have all these mundane things he has to do? Does he have a family we never knew about? The more we discussed, the more it just us kind of made us laugh and then we tried to figure out well, what would that family be? Who would marry M.O.D.O.K and how hard would it be to be his son or to be a daughter in M.O.D.O.K.’s image?”

It appears that the show will mainly focus on M.O.D.O.K.’s family life. You know, when he comes home after a hard day of work trying to kill the Avengers. We’ll meet his (mostly) ordinary family, who are being voiced by a cast of familiar names. Aimee Garcia from Lucifer will be playing M.O.D.O.K.’s wife Jodie, Ben Schwartz of Sonic the Hedgehog will play the part of his son Lou, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Melissa Fumero will provide the voice of his daughter Melissa. It seems she has the misfortune of looking the most like her dear old daddy.

M.O.D.O.K. doesn’t have a release date yet, but we expect more news at the show’s New York Comic Con panel on Friday afternoon.
