LOVE LETTER Meets STAR WARS with New JABBA’S PALACE Version

Tatooine is the most important planet in Star Wars‘ history. It’s the home of the Skywalker family. It’s where Obi-Wan Kenobi kept watch over the galaxy’s new hope and Luke met Han Solo and Chewbacca. And you can’t beat the desert planet’s wretched hive of scum and villainy. But one thing that Outer Rim planet has never been known for is romance. Until now. Because Asmodee, Z-Man Games, and Lucasfilm have partnered for a special Star Wars: Jabba’s Palace edition of the card game Love Letter. But don’t worry, Tatooine’s criminal underworld isn’t going soft. It will still be as dangerous as ever.

Forget getting your love notes to a princess. The new Star Wars: Jabba’s Palace – A Love Letter Game celebrates “rebellious bravery and clever deceit.” As players use cards featuring famous characters from the galaxy far, far away to “outwit and outlast their opponents, just like the original Love Letter. But the goal has nothing to do with making someone fall in love with you. Instead you’re fighting to survive. With a new version that provides a twist to the original gameplay. This edition features all-new Agenda Cards. They’ll change the goal of every round, so character cards’ inherent value will switch with every agenda.

If you’re unfamiliar with Love Letter that’s something you should remedy immediately. It’s a simple, addictive, fast card deck game to both learn and play. (It’s also a personal favorite of mine.) Each player draws and plays a card during their turn. Each card features a character with a different attribute or set of instructions. Your job every turn is to avoid getting knocked out while eliminating your opponents using logic, deduction, and probability.

While the infamous Tatooine location is once again a major setting in Star Wars thanks to The Book of Boba Fett, the new Jabba’s Palace – A Love Letter Game is based on Return of the Jedi. Cards, all with high-quality artwork, include Luke Skywalker, both Princess Leia and Lando Calrissian in disguise, Boba Fett, Bob Fortuna, and Jabba himself.

Designed for 2-6 players, the game also comes with a travel bag featuring a stylized logo of the infamous palace. You can learn more about the game at it’s official website. And you’ll be able to pick up your copy ($14.99 ) from Asmodee’s online store and select retailers.

Will Star Wars: Jabba’s Palace – A Love Letter Game make any fans associate Tatooine with romance? Probably not. But that planet is more fun when its cutthroat anyway.
