LEGO has invited Sony to play in its world, because when it comes to little plastic bricks, play has no limits. That’s right, soon you’ll be able to celebrate your love of both iconic companies wherever, whenever, forever. The wait is over. That applies to both the end of my PlayStation puns and the wait for a LEGO recreation of Sony’s classic gaming console.
Sony has announced its new team-up with the LEGO Group. The LEGO PlayStation is a replica of the original console and and its accompanying controller as they looked in 1994. The 1,911-piece set is an almost 1:1 scale of the system, as the model measures 10.5-inches wide. It also has interactive, functional mechanisms for authenticity. That includes the console’s “working” Power and Open buttons, a controller that actually plugs, and removable game dioramas so you can also display them on their own.
They dioramas pay homage to PlayStation’s history. They celebrate two games that launched alongside the system. The first is one for Gran Turismo. That diorama “includes a miniature track complete with scaled down cars.” The second is a miniature Ape Escape. It has an “island scene with a swappable blue or red light on the monkey’s helmet.” They look fantastic both on their own and inside the open LEGO set.
You’ll be able to grab your LEGO PlayStation ($179.99) directly from PlayStation’s site. It goes on sale in the US, UK, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, and Portugal on October 1, 2026. LEGO Insiders will also be able to nab theirs on that day via LEGO’s online store and physical locations.
That’s not much time for me to come up with more PlayStation puns. So I should probably get one more in before I finish this post. Because when it comes to LEGO and PlayStation wordplay, I want to push the boundaries of wordplay.
