Lowkey, the LEGO video games from Traveller’s Tales have been among the best licensed games for 20 years. They somehow manage to perfectly reflect both the joy of playing with LEGO and the inherent fun of whatever property they’re implementing. LEGO Star Wars was the first of these, and those games continue to impress. However, I think the most interesting have been those set in the DC Universe, beginning with 2008’s LEGO Batman: The Videogame. Across four games to date, they remain the most faithful (and playful) adaptations of DC Comics. Now, with the latest trailer for 2026’s LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, Tt might just have made a masterpiece.
This “Heroes & Villains” trailer makes good on the promise of the initial announcement trailers. We won’t just see one style of Batman, his rogues gallery, and Gotham City, but all of the ones we remember and love. The trailer shows us versions of characters from the Christopher Nolan trilogy, the Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher films, Matt Reeves’ The Batman, and even Batman: The Animated Series and the Arkham games, all with that indelible LEGO humor.

Legacy of the Dark Knight will give players the opportunity to incorporate the Bat Family, of course. Robin (Tim Drake, we’re assuming), Nightwing, Batgirl, and Catwoman all appear in various forms. We also, in addition to the Heath Ledger-style Joker, got Mister Freeze from Batman & Robin, Penguin from Batman Returns, Two-Face from Batman Forever, Bane from The Dark Knight Rises, and Ra’s al Ghul from what looks like Batman: TAS (the best version, naturally). And naturally we also see characters in their pure comic book forms, too.
The official main story synopsis reads as follows:
- Bruce Wayne’s journey from origin to legend as he trains with The League of Shadows, becomes the hero of Gotham City, and forges a new family of allies with Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Jim Gordon, Catwoman, and Talia al Ghul who each bring unique skills and signature gadgets to uncover crimes, complete challenges, and explore an immersive Gotham City full of secrets and surprises.
- Players will confront an ever-growing threat from across Batman’s Rogues Gallery, facing off against The Joker, The Penguin, Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, Ra’s al Ghul, Bane, and more.
Both the standard edition and deluxe edition are available for pre-order now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store). LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will drop May 29, 2026.
