Holy smokes, Batman! Is that the iconic museum scene from Batman recreated in animated LEGO glory? You betcha. I’d place bets that fans of the franchise already know exactly what I’m talking about. One memorable scene from the 1989 Michael Keaton-starring Batman movie sees the Joker trash Gotham City museum and turn it into his own personal art gallery. Wednesday, Warner Bros. Games and DC revealed a new cinematic from LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, replicating the iconic scene entirely in block form. It’s brilliant.
Set to the tune of none other than Prince’s Partyman, which famously debuted in the 1989 film, the LEGO recreation is a perfect 1:1 ratio of the original scene. The Joker and his goons waltz into the spacious room, absolutely trashing the place. Paint flies everywhere, sculptures crash to the floor, and Joker signs his work on a LEGO version of Johannes Vermeer’s “Girl with a Pearl Earring.” The final moments see Batman and Catwoman glide down from the ceiling, but not before Joker and his posse manage to slip out the door.
Are there a few differences between the orginal scene and its LEGO counterpart? Sure. For example, when Joker leaves his signature behind, he writes “joke’s on you” instead of “Joker was here.” Meh. Apples and oranges. Either way, seeing the scene become LEGO-fied is truly a treat we didn’t expect. And watching them side-by-side is kind of amazing.
Here’s the original scene from Batman (1989) for reference!
The clip follows the news of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight‘s extension to Nintendo Switch 2, which Warner Bros. Games and DC will announce at a later date. For now, we merely get a taste of the epic LEGO adventures soon to come. The game is available for pre-order on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC now.
