I long ago accepted the fact Kraft can—and will—add any flavor it wants into its mac and cheese. What I merely assumed was that these bizarre concoctions were a uniquely American thing. Clearly, I lack imagination, because our treasured friends to the north have brewed up something that is much, much stranger. Kraft Heinz Canada has partnered with Solly’s Craft Soda for KD x Solly’s Cream Soda. This Mac and Cheese soda is a sweet beverage with a savory, cheesy touch that looks like cheese water.
Kraft Dinner says it is giving fans “a new way to satisfy their KD cravings,” and they are not kidding. They’ve teamed with Solly’s Craft Soda for a “beverage that combines the taste of cream soda with a hint of KD’s iconic cheesiness.” That is a real quote from the very real press release for this very real limited-time product. KD x Solly’s Cream Soda is “a sweet and savoury carbonated drink that pairs nostalgic cream soda with a hint of KD’s familiar cheesy flavour.”
As far as flavours go, we’re not sure how much we would like to savour this Mac and Cheese soda. I mean, obviously I would. And in some ways I must. But I’m also a huge food weirdo who gets paid to eat and drink absurd foods. So I am exactly the target audience for this cheesy soda. Minus the part where I live in the United States and this is a Canadian product.
Canadians of all stripes—whether they really love either cheese, enjoy ridiculous food crossovers, or if they have lost a wager—can now grab this cheesy cream soda at Amazon for a whole new way to enjoy Kraft Mac and Cheese. It will arrive at participating retailers like Walmart early next month “while quantities last.” Solly’s website list a single can for $2.95 CAD.
If this sells out, like we’re sure it will, I don’t even want to know what kind of Kraft mac and cheese soda we’re going to get in America.
