KIKI’S DELIVERY SERVICE Coming to IMAX With 4K Remaster

Academy Award-winning director Hayao Miyazaki and animation house Studio Ghibli’s beloved feature Kiki’s Delivery Service is coming to IMAX theaters with a 4K remaster. This is incredibly exciting news for fans of the absolutely lovely 1989 fantasy film because it is the first time it will be in IMAX format. For those who aren’t familiar, it follows the titular character, a young witch who leaves home with her black cat and familiar Jiji. The trailer below sparks soooo much joy:

The duo arrive in a small seaside community and her powers make her popular among the residents. She begins to deliver goods using her broomstick but soon finds herself at a major mental and emotional turning point. Through the power of self-reflection and, of course, friendship, Kiki discovers new things about herself and finds her confidence again. The film’s storyline, characters, and hand drawn animation style make it a must-watch, which is really easy to do if you have HBO Max.
