Kid Cudi Fights Dr. Robotnik in SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2 Music Video

We knew our favorite blue blur would need help fighting Dr. Robotnik in his big-screen sequel. But Tails is not Sonic’s only ally willing to battle the evil genius. Kid Cudi stands tall against the notorious Eggman in his music video for Sonic the Hedgehog 2‘s “Stars in the Sky.” There’s more here to enjoy than just Kid Cudi’s animated form, though. There are also plenty of clips from the movie, and they promise an epic fight between Sonic and his arch-nemesis. With a duel that will bring one of the baddie’s most infamous creations to theaters.

The video for “Stars in the Sky” bounces Kid Cudi back and forth from the real world into Sonic’s original 16-bit video game reality. And the musician uses Dr. Robotnik’s Egg-O-Matic to travel up, down, and around both places. That is until he must do battle with the notorious villain. That’s when Kid Cudi and Robotnik get into their giant cartoon mech machines to duel it out.

We’re going to go out on a limb and say Kid Cudi won’t be going all Pacific Rim in the movie. But it would be great for Sonic if he did because Jim Carrey’s Dr. Robotnik certainly will. This video shows Sonic trying to fly away from a gigantic Eggman mech that threatens to destroy everyone and everything.

Dr. Robotnik first terrorized Sonic with his giant Eggman mech in the franchise’s second release. But I don’t remember Tails ever having his own humongous mech. (In fairness, I haven’t played every Sonic game ever made, so maybe that happened in a later version?) Hopefully, Tails and Sonic will be able to stop the mustachioed bad guy without Kid Cudi’s help.

We’ll find out when Sonic the Hedgehog 2, which will feature Idris Elba as Knuckles, speeds into theaters on April 8.
