JASON BOURNE Spinoff TV Series TREADSTONE Is Coming to USA

After five feature films, the Jason Bourne saga is heading to television…without its signature action hero. USA has ordered a Bourne spinoff, Treadstone, straight-to-series so that the universe can be expanded on TV. Via Variety, the connective tissue between the Bourne movies and Treadstone will be the fictional CIA black ops organization that created Jason Bourne. Operation Treadstone was built to turn its recruits into unstoppable assassins through an intensive behavior modification program. Essentially, it turns people into living weapons. According to the report, the first season will follow multiple sleeper agents around the world after they are activated to continue their dangerous assignments.

There’s currently no information about who the main characters will be in this series, or if there’s even a remote possibility that Matt Damon will reprise his role as Jason Bourne for a simple cameo appearance to strengthen the link between the TV series and the films. What we do know is that Heroes creator Tim Kring is writing and executive producing Treadstone, with Ramin Bahrani slated to direct the pilot episode and serve as an executive producer as well.

Treadstone is expected to begin filming next year, with casting likely to take place before the end of 2018. USA hasn’t announced a premiere date for the series, but a late 2019 launch would probably be the soonest it could happen.
