DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn is currently working on Man of Tomorrow, set to go before the cameras this year. The film officially reunites David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult as Clark Kent and Lex Luthor, this time as frenemies. But before things get going in earnest for the Superman sequel, Gunn has taken a moment to give fans a chance to revisit the film that came first. Via social media, Gunn has released the entire script for Superman, which you can read in its entirety by clicking below. We’re not sure if this is the final shooting draft or not, but the fact that it says “Superman” and not “Superman: Legacy,” its original title, suggests that it is.
Another way in which we know this is a later draft, is because it has the opening text crawl. Gunn has confirmed was a late addition after preview screenings with friends. That text crawl ended up being perfect, as Superman pretty much dumps viewers right into the middle of the action. Interestingly, the text crawl for the original Star Wars was also a suggestion from George Lucas’ friends, who saw an early cut of A New Hope. It seems history repeated itself with Gunn’s Superman. But if you’re going to have your film compared to anyone else’s? You could do a lot worse than Lucas’ original Star Wars.

The entire Superman screenplay from Gunn is 132 pages long. Which, honestly, is not terribly long by modern standards. But most ardent DC Comics fans can probably read it in one sitting. Hopefully, releasing the shooting scripts online after the movie arrives in theaters and on digital platforms is a good thing. Maybe Gunn even releases the bad DC movies. Imagine if the next one Gunn releases is Catwoman starring Halle Berry. The fabric of space and time might rip a hole in reality.
