I Choose You, Ginormous Pokémon Card!

Powered by Geek & Sundry

Here at Geek & Sundry we’re celebrating Pokémon’s 20th anniversary in a myriad of ways (from replaying Red and Blue to indulging in totally plausible theories about the world of Pokémon), but one UK artist named Quentin Devine got Pokémon into the Guinness World Record books by creating the world’s largest mosaic of trading cards using nearly 13,000 of them in the design. The mosaic replicates this original piece of Pikachu artwork from legendary Pokémon artist Ken Sugimori (he designed the original 151) and was unveiled in Paris on March 22nd. It measures over 750 square feet and it is incredibly adorable. I stood next to a giant Pikachu trading card when I was a kid, but it wasn’t nearly as cool as this mosaic. See how the whole thing was made in the video below. Here’s hoping Devine makes more before the year is over!

What Pokémon would you like to see mosaic artist Quentin Devine tackle next? How are you celebrating Pokémon’s 20th anniversary? Let us know in the comments below!
