Watch the HIT MAN Trailer, Richard Linklater’s Film Starring Glen Powell

Acclaimed filmmaker Richard Linklater is following up his film Apollo 10 1⁄2: A Space Age Childhood with a collaboration between him and Top Gun: Maverick actor Glen Powell, called Hit Man. The upcoming Netflix movie, based loosely on a true story about a regular guy who fakes being a hit man, was also co-written by Powell. You can check out the Hit Man trailer, which drops on the streamer on June 7, below.

Read Hit Man‘s synopsis:

Inspired by an unbelievable true story, a strait-laced professor discovers his hidden talent as a fake hit man. He meets his match in a client who steals his heart and ignites a powder keg of deception, delight, and mixed-up identities.

Aside from Powell, Hit Man also stars Adria Arjona, Austin Amelio, Retta, Sanjay Rao, Molly Bernard, and Evan Holtzman. Linklater said about working together with Powell, “[Glen] is a great collaborator. It’s kind of like a sports team. If the best guy on the team is also the hardest-working, you might win. That’s what Glen is. He wants everybody on the team to be great.” On working with Linklater, Powell said, “Rick has had this just incredibly bold career, having played in every sort of space. This movie is the culmination of all these different genres and characters in one movie. It was difficult to pull off, and he made it look effortless.”

Netflix

This is not the first time that Richard Linklater and Glen Powell have collaborated. Powell starred in Linklater’s film Everybody Wants Some!! back in 2016. He also was a voice actor in Apollo 10 1⁄2: A Space Age Childhood. Maybe we’re seeing the birth of a new director/actor dream team? Move over, Scorsese and DiCaprio.

It appears that Hit Man will have a limited theatrical release before hitting Netflix. That’s becoming standard with higher-profile releases from the streaming giant. Hit Man arrives on Netflix on June 7.
