For the past several years we’ve known her as Wonder Woman. But in the new Netflix movie Heart of Stone, Gal Gadot is a different kind of action hero, one who can’t rely on powers to get her out of a hairy situation. In the film, Gadot plays Rachel Stone, an intelligence operative. She’s the only woman who stands between her powerful global peacekeeping organization and the loss of its most valuable asset. From the looks of things, the film, which co-stars Jamie Dornan, looks very James Bond-ish with a generous dash of Mission: Impossible. They filmed Heart of Stone on location in places like Portugal, Reykjavík, and Northern Italy. In an interesting Wonder Woman connection, comic book author Greg Rucka wrote Heart of Stone. Rucka is famous for two legendary runs on the Wonder Woman comic book for DC. Rucka also wrote the Netflix film The Old Guard. He may never have been able to write Gal Gadot as Diana Prince for the screen, but this seems like the next best thing.
Heart of Stone debuts on Netflix on August 11.
