A Shakespearean tragedy is coming to the big screen with a modern twist. Hamlet will star Riz Ahmed and center this story of betrayal and revenge in London’s elite South Asian community. And, after seeing the trailer for Hamlet, I’m ready to watch everyone crash out on the big screen.
Here’s the synopsis for this film from Vertical:
When Hamlet (Riz Ahmed) returns for his father’s funeral, he is stunned to discover his uncle Claudius is marrying his newly widowed mother. Visited by his father’s ghost, Hamlet learns his brutal murder was at the hands of Claudius – and spirals into a quest for vengeance that exposes the rot at the heart of the family’s empire and threatens his own sanity.

The trailer for Hamlet is aesthetically dazzling and, as we all know, Riz Ahmed simply doesn’t miss in any role. Morfydd Clark, Joe Alwyn, Sheeba Chaddha, Avijit Dutt, Art Malik, and Timothy Spall also star in Hamlet, with Aneil Kari directing the film and Michael Lesslie on the script.
Vertical will bring Hamlet to theaters on April 10.
