Guillermo del Toro’s FRANKENSTEIN Reveals First-Look Image of Oscar Isaac as the Nefarious Doctor

We finally have a first-look image of Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein that actually shows us a cast member in action. In it, we see Oscar Isaac as Doctor Frankenstein himself from the Guillermo del Toro film. He seems to be holding a vial of something mysterious… and he looks, well, scarily good. We’re very excited to see more from this one, but in the meanwhile, we’re pretty content with just this one still. Although, if this first-look image from Netflix’s Frankenstein is so good, imagine how incredible a full trailer will be, or better yet, the whole film. It’s been a good year for the universal monsters, and we feel fairly certain that Guillermo del Toro’s take on Frankenstein will not let us down—and this image makes us all the more certain.

Who is Oscar Isaac’s Doctor Frankenstein talking to in this first-look image from the del Toro movie? We don’t know. What’s in the vial he’s holding? We also don’t know. But is his vest corseted and cinched? That we do know. And to that, we have to say, good job, Guillermo del Toro. So far, everything we’ve seen from the movie, which granted is only two images, looks lush, intense and incredible.

The official description for del Toro’s Frankenstein, released along with our first-look at Oscar Isaac from the film, notes, “Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro adapts Mary Shelley’s classic tale of Victor Frankenstein, a brilliant but egotistical scientist who brings a creature to life in a monstrous experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation.”

Additionally, the movie is now officially set to release in November of 2025. That’s quite a while to wait for the entire Frankenstein movie, but we’re willing to wait for it. We can’t wait to see Jacob Elordi bring Frankenstein’s Monster/Creature to life as well. The Wrap, who saw some first-look footage from the film in addition to this image, describes del Toro’s Frankenstein‘s monster as “heavily inspired by the illustrations of Bernie Wrightson, which was first published by Marvel Comics in 1983 – stringy black hair, his face and body thin and sinewy, with deep, soulful eyes.”

Cheers to you Frankenstein, Guillermo del Toro, and Doctor Frankenstein, we feel like this Netflix movie is going to be good.
