Earlier in 2025, there was much speculation that we would get Gremlins 3 if Steven Spielberg approved its script. We are certainly deep in the age of reboots, revivals, and reimaginings of existing franchises, and it seems to be working out for a few properties. Gremlins star Zach Galligan even teased that the script was already done back in July 2025. Well, he was telling the truth because, according to Deadline, the Gremlins 3 sequel is happening and has set a release date for November 19, 2027. This means the next film will come a whopping 37 years after Gremlins 2: The New Batch’s release back in 1990.

Chris Columbus will return to direct Gremlins 3 (a working title for now) and produce the film. And yes, the great Steven Spielberg is on board as an executive producer. Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav made the announcement during the company’s third quarter earnings call, saying that creatives really want to partner with them. That’s all intriguing considering the company is apparently up for sale, but we will see what happens there.
Either way, it is fun to think about those funny looking little terrors back on the big screen again. For now, there’s no big casting news nor further details, but we still have a while until the release date for Gremlins 3 arrives.
