Good Omens‘ second season ended with Michael Sheen’s Aziraphale rejecting David Tennant’s Crowley. The demon wanted to run off together for an eternity of happines. Instead Aziraphale opted to become Heaven’s top angel. But as Good Omens 3‘s trailer reveals, just because he’s in charge doesn’t mean he’s in control. Especially not when he loses Jesus Christ.
Good Omens 3 Synopsis and Teaser Trailer
The Second Coming is coming in Good Omens 3. But that title is sort of a misnomer. Season three is really just a 90-minute special that will serve as a series finale. It was originally slated to be a full, finale season until multiple women made credible allegations of sexual assault against the novel’s co-author and series creator, Neil Gaiman. He then stepped away from the series entirely. At the time of his departure, it was unclear if the show would continue at all.
Now we know what to expect from this finale, as Aziraphale finds out his good intentions might be totally pointless. Here’s the final “season’s” official synopsis, released along with the Good Omens 3 trailer:
Good Omens 3 picks up where the ineffable story left off in Season Two as the beloved and unlikely duo – angel Aziraphale and demon Crowley return to face their most epic and personal adventure yet. Their millennia-long friendship has been fractured ever since Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) accepted the offer to return to Heaven, leaving Crowley (David Tennant) behind. Now, as the newly appointed Supreme Archangel, Aziraphale is tasked with overseeing the Second Coming, a monumental responsibility that weighs heavily on him, and is made worse when his plans cause some consternation among the other angels. Meanwhile, heartbroken Crowley finds himself at rock bottom, wandering the streets of Soho.
That is a remarkably thorough synopsis! It really provides…..hold on. Oh. Okay, there’s somehow actually more. The rest of the synopsis:
As the fate of the universe hangs in the balance, Aziraphale and Crowley must confront their relationship, heal old wounds and rediscover their bond. From navigating London’s gangsters to thwarting Hellish threats, they face personal betrayals and the complexities of their own emotions in this timeless expedition. Together, they must decide whether their friendship – and the world itself – is worth saving.
Good Omens 3 Release Date
A lot of information there for a 90-minute finale! A lot of information. But we’re not complaining. We’ll take as much Good Omens as we can now, because it will come to an end when Good Omens 3 debuts at Prime Video on May 13, 2026.
