LEGO’s GHOSTBUSTERS Ecto-1 Set Is Its Most Detailed Ever

We’ve been saying it for more than 35 years, but it’s still true—bustin’ makes us feel good. We’re also big fans of LEGO sets celebrating our favorite shows and films. Now the company’s next collectible will combine both. LEGO is releasing it newest version of the Ecto-1 car from Ghostbusters. And it’s bigger and better than ever.

The LEGO Company has announced its “largest and most detailed LEGO brick recreation” ever of the Ghostbusters iconic Ecto-1. The 2352-piece buildable collection stands over 8-inches high, 18-inches long, and 6-inches wide. What really makes this stand out from previous LEGO Ecto-1s though is that it is “crammed full of authentic details from the iconic converted 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor ambulance.” That includes “a moving ghost sniffer activated by the wheels, an extendable rear gunner seat, working steering wheel, and a whole host of other paranormal detection equipment on the detailed roof rack.”

The car also has “printed versions of the Ghostbusters logo adorning the car doors.” And it even has some fun bonuses, like a miniature bag of Stay Puft Marshmallows. (Just try not to think about it if any gods from another dimension show up.)

This set also boasts two brand new LEGO brick elements. The ambulance-turned-emergency ghost chaser has an original 6×14 curved windscreen. And it also has an all-new five module steering wheel. You can see the car and its features in action in this Beyond the Brick build video.

This new set isn’t just about celebrating the franchise’s past, though. It’s part of the promotion for next year’s (we hope) Ghostbusters: Afterlife. That film, directed by Jason Reitman, will serve as the third movie in the original film’s universe.

You won’t have to wait that long to get yours. This new Ecto-1 set will be available soon, starting November 15. You can pick up yours ($199.99) at at LEGO.com or in LEGO stores.

If you want to grab one for us, that would also make us feel good.
