The Ghostbusters are coming back to take out more supernatural trash. Word about the movie directed by Jason Reitman dropped on Tuesday, but in the few days since, we’ve already received a teaser and learned some details about the new sequel. As has been announced, the story is set in the same universe as the first two films and will follow those events. However, as host Jessica Chobot reviews in the latest Nerdist News, the main characters in the new Ghostbusters film will be kids.[brightcove video_id=”5991229361001″ brightcove_account_id=”3653334524001″ brightcove_player_id=”rJs2ZD8x”]Wait, is this all a really elaborate teaser for the next season of Stranger Things?! Because we’re into it.Via We Got This Covered, the main characters will be a 13-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl. The former is reportedly “passionate about fantasy and conspiracy theories,” while the latter is an intelligent kid who has difficulty “interpreting and expressing emotions and speaks with a flat delivery that make her observations humorous.” Could it be that these children are descendants of the original Ghostbusters team? Or do they just take inspiration from their actions and get into ghostbusting on their own?And then of course, we have to wonder which–if any–of the original cast members will be returning. Dan Aykroyd has actually talked about this film being in the works before (it’s one of the instances where that kind of chatter actually panned out), and at the time, Aykroyd said it’s possible for there to be a reunion with the three remaining Ghostbusters. At the rate we’ve been getting information about Ghostbusters 3, I’m sure we’ll find out soon enough.
