Star Trek, as an IP, has a weird history with Funko. The initial rollout of Funko Pop! vinyl figures fifteen years ago had several Star Trek: The Next Generation characters, including almost the entire main bridge crew of the Enterprise-D. But there was one notable missing character, Dr. Beverly Crusher, as portrayed by Gates McFadden. In the years since, the other TNG crew members have received new, modern-style Pop! figures. But there is still none for Beverly, the Enterprise’s Chief Medical Officer. Actress Gates McFadden has noticed. She (and her cat Rudy) posted to Instagram recently, asking just where the heck is Crusher’s Funko after all these years?
In a funny, tongue-in-cheek video, McFadden wonders why, after so long, Beverly has never received her Funko due. This is even after becoming a more action-oriented character in Star Trek: Picard. She said, “Are they discriminating against mothers, against doctors, against women who aren’t sex bombs?” Although she did instantly remember the notorious TNG episode “Sub Rosa,” where she had an erotic encounter with a ghost in a lamp. If you’ve never seen that episode, we urge you to check it out at your earliest convenience. It’s a doozy. We love TNG, but when they were bad, they were BAD.

Unlike Star Wars or Lord of the Rings, where seemingly everyone who walked on screen has received some love from Funko, things are different with Star Trek. We still don’t have all the main characters from Deep Space Nine, Voyager, or even the original series. Things have been better lately, with new Pop! figures based on classic Trek shows. But still no Bev. McFadden posted a link on her Instagram to a #JusticeforCrusher account, and a form to fill out for Funko to finally give Beverly her due, and you can add your name right here. And hey, while we’re at it, her son Wesley Crusher, Guinan, and Tasha Yar need some Funko love, too. With the show’s 40th anniversary next year, we need the whole bridge crew together on our shelves.
