I’ll be there for youuuuu… at the coffee shop. Over two decades after its final episode aired, Friends is still a beloved sitcom among many. The characters and their respective actors are now pop culture icons and the show’s locations are just as iconic. This crew spent a ton of time at Central Perk, a cozy coffeehouse hangout, and now the Friends cafe is getting a permanent spot in NYC.
Central Perk’s previous pop up locations were successful enough to bring it to Times Square for many show enthusiasts and tourists to enjoy. According to Variety, Central Perk will have “artisanal coffee drinks and Friends-inspired food items guided by Top Chef judge and James Beard Award winner Tom Colicchio.” There will be a replica of the show’s infamous orange sofa as well as merch and coffee blends for fans to purchase.
“This is about delivering an experience in the heart of Manhattan, where the story began, and letting fans from around the world step into a space that’s both nostalgic yet freshly reimagined,” said Peter van Roden, EVP of Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences. “There’s no better place than New York City to celebrate the legacy of ‘Friends’ and to continue building on the connection fans feel with Central Perk.”
So get ready to hang out and chill with pals, just like your fave friends did. Right now, there’s no specific date for its opening, but it is expected to arrive sometime this Fall. What a perfect time of year to grab a cup of coffee.
