FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S Second Trailer Teases Possessed Animatronic Animals

This truly seems to be the year where video games come to life onscreen. We started things off with The Last of Us bringing its gnarly world to HBO. Then, The Super Mario Bros. Movie brought joy and delight to generations of fans who love the Mushroom Kingdom. Now, the weird animatronic world of Five Nights at Freddy’s is coming to film and if the second trailer is any indication, it is going to be a twisted good time.

For those who aren’t familiar, Five Nights at Freddy’s is a game franchise that centers around a family pizza restaurant called Freddy’s Fazbear’s Pizza. The titular Freddy in question is not a Krueger but instead an animatronic bear. In most of the games, the player is a night shift employee who has to defend themselves from Freddy and his animal comrades, who are up to no good. Mixing a Chuck E. Cheese-inspired place with some sadism is ripe for movie fun. This trailer shows us the robo-nightmares have ghost kids possessing them. Yikes on bikes, fam.

The Five Nights at Freddy’s original teaser trailer, below, doesn’t give us much information about what to expect in this movie. But there’s not much to figure out here. Josh Hutcherson stars as a security guard who realizes that the night shift is not cool. Hutcherson is joined by Elizabeth Lail, Piper Rubio, Kat Conner Sterling, Mary Stuart Masterson, and Matthew Lillard for lots of frights that will not spark delight. A release also shares that “the film’s iconic animatronic characters will be created by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.”

The film will hit theaters and Peacock just in time for Halloween on October 27.
