Finn Wolfhard’s SNL Promo Is One Big STRANGER THINGS Gag

Stranger Things is now officially behind us, after 9 1/2 long years. And no, there was no secret final episode. Sorry to disappoint, Conformity Gate true believers. Having said that, it seems some spooky Stranger Things effects continue to linger on. Actor Finn Wolfhard, who played Mike Wheeler throughout the show’s entire run, will be hosting Saturday Night Live on January 17 with musical guest A$AP Rocky. And in the new SNL promo for the episode, they waste no time evoking Finn Wolfhard’s Stranger Things years fighting off monsters in Hawkins. You can watch the SNL promo featuring Finn Wolfhard right here:

In the new promo, SNL feature player Kam Patterson gives Finn a little mini-tour, welcoming him to the studio at 30 Rock. Patterson then takes him to another SNL cast member’s office, that of Ben Marshall. The pair walk in on him making sexy, muscular Photoshop art of one of Finn’s Stranger Things co-stars. After that gag, we get the flickering lights, smoke, and weird sounds that usually indicate a Demogorgon is coming from the Upside Down. Or maybe even Vecna himself? Wolfhard slips right back into Hawkins survival mode, turns a broom into a weapon, and says, “It’s Vecna. He’s back.”

As it turns out, Vecna remains quite dead. The smoke and weird noises are coming from SNL cast member Sarah Sherman, after she ate some extra-spicy beef cubes. It seems basic gastrointestinal humor is alive and well on Saturday Night Live after fifty years. We’re sure that promo is not the only Stranger Things bit of humor we’re getting on the show. We expect lots of jokes about how the Hawkins kids are all now forty years old, and maybe even some about Steve Harrington’s hair. Maybe they’ll even poke fun at how Mike Wheeler really didn’t have much to do in season five. We think that would be pretty funny.
