Chris Hemsworth Fights Drug Lords In EXTRACTION Trailer

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Chris Hemsworth has saved entire planets. But his next film Extraction, written by Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame director Joe Russo, might be Hemsworth’s most physically demanding rescue mission yet. He has to escape a locked down city after freeing a drug lord’s young son. And as the movie’s first action-packed trailer shows, saving one life can be even harder than saving half the universe.

“Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) is a fearless black market mercenary with nothing left to lose when his skills are solicited to rescue the kidnapped son of an imprisoned international crime lord. But in the murky underworld of weapons dealers and drug traffickers, an already deadly mission approaches the impossible, forever altering the lives of Rake and the boy.”

As this first trailer reveals, Tyler Rake’s mission has a personal element. He recently lost his own son. Saving the life of another man’s child will influence the risks Rake is willing to take to protect the boy. Even if even if that means sacrificing his own life.

Joe Russo wrote the script and is producing the movie with his brother Anthony Russo. However, neither is behind the camera. Longtime MCU and Hollywood stunt coordinator Sam Hargrave (Captain America: Civil War, The Hunger Games franchise, Thor: Ragnarok) directs in his featured film debut. The choice to have an established stunt man lead the film points to just how many action sequences we can expect to see.

The movie, filmed on location in India and Thailand, also stars Stranger Things‘ David Harbour. The cast is rounded out by Rudhraksh Jaiswal, Randeep Hooda, Golshifteh Farahani, Pankaj Tripathi, and Priyanshu Painyuli.

Will Chris Hemsworth also have to save any of them? We don’t know yet, but we know he can do it. Saving half the universe looked easy compared to what he’s dealing with next.

Extraction comes to Netflix on April 24.
