I loved the first Enola Holmes movie. Loved, loved, loved it. When it ended, I would have paid a significant sum of money to immediately watch a sequel. Stranger Things‘ star Millie Bobby Brown was perfect as the daring younger sister of Henry Cavill’s famed Sherlock. Unfortunately, I did not have the money or the magic to instantly conjure up a second film. But now Netflix and time have taken care of that for me. The budding detective will soon return for a new case. And the latest trailer for Enola Holmes 2 shows why it will be worth the wait. She’s still as charming as ever.
This movie looks lit. That Enola is a real firecracker. Yup, Millie Bobby Brown is a perfect match for this role.
Sorry. I’m just really excited we’re finally getting a sequel to one of my favorite films of 2020. And while this trailer shows there will be plenty of connections with the original, it will also tell a whole new story. Here’s the official synopsis from Netflix.
Fresh off the triumph of solving her first case, Enola Holmes follows in the footsteps of her famous brother, Sherlock, and opens her own agency – only to find that life as a female detective-for-hire isn’t as easy as it seems. Resigned to accepting the cold realities of adulthood, she is about to close shop when a penniless matchstick girl offers Enola her first official job: to find her missing sister. But this case proves to be far more puzzling than expected, as Enola is thrown into a dangerous new world – from London’s sinister factories and colorful music halls, to the highest echelons of society and 221B Baker Street itself. As the sparks of a deadly conspiracy ignite, Enola must call upon the help of friends – and Sherlock himself – to unravel her mystery. The game, it seems, has found its feet again!
We don’t normally review taglines. However, “The game, it seems, has found its feet again!” is 5 out of 5 perfection. The only thing that could top it is if Enola Holmes 3 starts playing right after this movie ends. What? I don’t have to give up my dream. Not when I love these movies that much.
Enola Holmes 2, directed by Harry Bradbeer with a script from Jack Thorne, also stars David Thewlis, Louis Partridge, Susan Wokoma, Adeel Akhtar, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, and Helena Bonham Carter. It comes to Netflix on November 4.
