Some Dunkin’ Stores Are Having a Mysterious Donut Shortage

Nobody panic, but Nebraska is currently at a total standstill! At least that’s what we assume is going on there. Why would we think that? Because America runs on Dunkin’ and some stores in the state currently don’t have any donuts on their shelves.

According to the Associated PressDunkin’ locations in Omaha, Lincoln, and Grand Island had empty donut cases starting Thursday and Friday. The Nebraska stores suffering through this sweet treat drought put up signs up telling obviously devastated customers about the shortage. While the company hasn’t specifically stated what is causing the issue, the stores said it is “due to a manufacturing error.” Some employees also told the AP it’s a supply chain issue and that trucks showed up empty.

An empty donut truck is a metaphor that can go in so many directions. All of them sad.

Fortunately, a few places did still have munchkins still for sale. We know grateful parents and adults looking for a nosh surely appreciated that small miracle. Plus the stores all still had coffee, which is technically more important for keeping America running. In fact, now that we think about it, Nebraska probably isn’t at a total standstill. If anything it might be moving faster than ever, because we personally find donuts result in us napping more often than us doing anything productive.

That’s not to say we don’t feel terribly for the people of Nebraska. We do. But obviously this story could be so much worse. I’m from New England and if we had any kind of Dunkin’ shortage here….

No. No it’s too terrible to think about. So instead we’ll focus on the part of this report that says those locations are hoping to be back to full donut capacity this week. Once they’re back up and running smoothly we can take comfort that Nebraska will be, too.
