DRAGONS: THE NINE REALMS Trailer Reveals an Adventure of Misfits

When “a group of misfit kids” meets a group of misfit dragons, we know delightful adventures lay in store. In the first trailer for Dragons: The Nine Realms, from the How to Train Your Dragon universe, we get to meet all of our heroes. And we already love each and every one. In addition, Dreamworks reveals the incredible voice-cast for the show.

1,300 years have passed since the adventures of Toothless and Hiccup in How To Train Your Dragon. But, happily, dragons are no less cute. Or loyal.

The Dragons: The Nine Realms trailer description shares:

Set 1,300 years after the events of How To Train Your Dragon, dragons are now just a legend to the modern world. When a geological anomaly opens up an immense, miles-deep fissure in the Earth’s surface, scientists from all over the world gather at a new research facility to study the mysterious phenomenon. Soon a group of misfit kids, brought to the site by their parents, uncover the truth about dragons and where they’ve been hiding — a secret they must keep to themselves to protect what they’ve discovered.

Of course, when you bring teenagers to a top-secret research facility and tell them to “stay away from the fissure,” well… We already know what happens next. They fall headfirst into trouble. Or, at least, adventure. Handily, we have four lead kids for four lead dragons. Love how that happens. But it looks like, just like our human heroes who have been thrown together by circumstance, our dragons are just the ones that happened to survive or find one another.

We can’t help but wonder what happened to the rest of the dragons. But we hope they find them.

One thing we know they’ll find though is family. Because found family can be the strongest and best kind. We can’t wait to watch it come together in Dragons: The Nine Realms.

Dreamworks has also announced the full cast for the show. They share in a release, “Joining Jeremy Shada (Voltron: Legendary Defender) are newly announced Julia Stiles (10 Things I Hate About You), Marcus Scribner (Black-ish), Aimee Garcia (Lucifer), Ashley Liao (Fuller House), Lauren Tom (The Joy Luck Club), Keston John (She-Ra and the Princesses of Power), Justina Machado (One Day at a Time) and D’arcy Carden (The Good Place).”

That’s quite a line-up. Dragons: The Nine Realms will take flight soon. The show releases on Hulu and Peacock on December 23.
