If you’ve watched Doom Patrol‘s first three seasons you know two things. The first is that the series is pretty weird, even for a superhero story. That might very well be what you like best about it. The second thing you know is that because the show is so strange nothing that happens should surprise you. Anything and everything is possible, no matter how bizarre, kooky, or absurd. And yet, despite all that, a new promo for the series’ fourth season still caught us off guard. Because while we’re familiar with Doom Patrol‘s killer monster butts, we didn’t expect to see them performing a Broadway musical.
If you need a moment to gather yourself after that teaser we understand. We did. Not every day you see… that.
As for those gh-ass-tly creatures known as Were-Butts, they’ve clearly evolved since the last time we saw them. They’re no longer mere killing machines. They’re also singing and dancing machines. And they’re quite good! We can honestly say we’ve never seen a performance of The Music Man like that. But those cheeky singers aren’t the only problem the Doom Patrol will face this year. Here’s the official season four logline from HBO Max:
Season Four opens with the team unexpectedly traveling to the future to find an unwelcome surprise. Faced with their imminent demise, the Doom Patrol must decide once and for all which is more important: their own happiness or the fate of the world?
You know, Biting Broadway Butts is probably a better future than we’ve been expecting. But no matter what awaits us, we’re glad we’ll be getting more Doom Patrol soon. The show—starring Brendan Fraser, Matt Bomer, Diane Guerrero, April Bowlby, Joivan Wade, Michelle Gomez, Skye Roberts, Riley Shanahan, and Matthew Zuk—returns to HBO Max on December 8.
We know where our butts will be when that day comes. we just hope they don’t make nearly as much noise as the show’s.
