Disney and race cars go hand in hand, from Herbie the Love Bug to the living vehicle world in the Cars franchise. And now, a ton of other beloved Disney characters are getting behind the wheel. Gameloft has announced that Disney Speedstorm, a new cross-playable arcade racing experience, is coming later this year. In Disney Speedstorm, players get to race and fight one another on tracks inspired by several iconic Disney and Pixar films and characters. Gameloft has slated Disney Speedstorm to launch free-to-play on PC and consoles in 2022. You can check out the official announcement video right here:
Speedstorm is a hero-based combat racing game showcasing heroes and villains reimagined as high-speed road warriors, with racetracks inspired by their unique worlds. So think Mad Max: Fury Road, but by way of the Magic Kingdom. Among the lineup of racers is Captain Jack Sparrow, Mulan, Sulley, the Beast, Mowgli, and of course, Mickey Mouse. And a lot more who have yet to be announced. (We’re personally rooting for Mr. Toad. Who deserves a “wild ride” more than he does? Plus Stitch, just because). Players can upgrade each racer’s stats, and make the most of their unique skills, impacting the outcome of a race and changing the way to play.
Players can speed through the action-packed tracks solo, or challenge their friends in local and remote multiplayer modes. All thanks to Disney Speedstorm supporting cross-platform play. Gameloft is promising players fresh content always around the corner. They will also add new Disney and Pixar racers regularly, so if one of your favorites isn’t in that first batch, they may add them in later. Also, Gameloft will release unique tracks often, as a way of pumping fresh strategy into the mix. The company will announce more details closer to launch. You can pre-register for Disney Speedstorm now.
