The magic of Disney’s Spaceship Earth ride at EPCOT is coming to Disney+ in the form of a TV pilot. Considering the infamous success of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, this is not at all a far-fetched idea. Spaceship Earth is one of the most recognizable landmarks at Disney World, and has been a part of EPCOT since the park’s opening back in 1982. According to Variety, Jason Fuchs will be the showrunner and executive producer for this project.
We don’t have any casting information at this time, which makes sense. There’s not yet a full series order much less a filmed pilot as of July 2026. But there is a logline for this Disney+ TV pilot for Spaceship Earth:
“When a mission to avert an imminent global cataclysm goes awry, a small band of teenagers from Earth’s past and future must join forces to confront a threat as vast and mysterious as time itself.”
Fuchs is known for his recent work as the co-creator and co-showrunner of HBO’s IT: Welcome to Derry, which will surely not share any vibes with this pilot. Disney has to keep it family friendly and not horrifying, right? We will keep an eye out to see if and when this pilot airs and if that’s enough to get a series order.
