The Disney Lorcana TCG has officially taken the world by storm. It just announced its NINTH set and shows no signs of slowing down. And why should it? There are so many amazing Disney characters and worlds to bring into Disney Lorcana, and the game has proven itself a hit. Disney Lorcana‘s ninth set will be called Fabled, and we just learned a bunch of new information about it. Additionally, Disney Lorcana‘s eighth set Reign of Jafar is teasing us with some cool new looks. Let’s dive into the windfall of Disney Lorcana fun.

Disney Lorcana‘s Fabled Introduces A Goofy Movie and Iconic + Epic Cards

What a great name for Disney Lorcana set! Fabled is lucky number nine. And it’s bringing to life some very anticipated cards and some incredibly cool new gameplay mechanics.

A Goofy Movie Arrives in Disney Lorcana

But which property will join us in Disney Lorcana‘s Fabled set? Why, it’s A Goofy Movie. A Goofy Movie just celebrated its 30th anniversary. But fans everywhere are still in love with it. (Even the ones that feel really old right now.) A Goofy Movie is basically timeless. And so we’re very excited to see it hit Disney Lorcana. We don’t exactly know which cards from A Goofy Movie will appear in the deck. But we’re just happy to hear it’s coming at all.

Iconic and Epic Rarities Join the TCG

Additionally, the Fabled set will introduce two new kinds of rarities to the mix: Iconic and Epic. Disney Lorcana explains that these Fabled rarities indicate the following. The game shares, “For those who love to search for stunning versions of their favorite characters, there will be two new rarities to look for in each booster pack: Iconic and Epic. Iconic cards are extremely rare with only two appearing in each set, while Epic cards will appear more often than Enchanted cards and feature special artwork and foil treatments.” Mickey and Minnie riding gorgeously on a carousel will be the first Iconic cards available for the keen collector.

Rotating Cards for Competitions

Additionally, Fabled will “also mark the first time the game will rotate cards out of being legally available to competitive players to include in their decks. The first four sets will rotate out of the Core Constructed format, but will still be available to play in a new format, called Infinity Constructed. All fans can still play with their entire card collection, but it’s important to keep the competition fresh.”

Ryan Miller, Brand Manager and Co-Designer of Disney Lorcana TCG at Ravensburger shares, “To keep the competitive game thriving, rotating out older cards to encourage new strategies and fresh deck designs is a really important part of the next chapter. But because we know there are cards in those early sets that are important to a lot of fans’ deck-building strategies, and we know not everybody got the cards they wanted the first year, we’re re-printing some cards from those first sets in Fabled. Including Enchanted versions of some fan favorites!”

When Will Disney Lorcana‘s Fabled Release?

The next chapter of the Disney Lorcana TCG, Fabled, has set its release date for September 5th, 2025.

Disney Lorcana‘s Reign of Jafar

But before we get to fabled, Disney Lorcana’s Reign of Jafar set is still lurking in the wings. This gorgeous set is, as the name indicates, all about his royal villainousness, Jafar. Though, of course, our favorite heroes are present in the set. We can’t just let Jafar run rampant.

The official description of the set shares, “Jafar now possesses the Hexwell Crown and, with it, he has corrupted Archazia’s Island to his wicked will. Traps and illusions abound in Reign of Jafar, and glimmers like Jasmine – Steady Strategist and Rapunzel – High Climber will need to band together to steal back the crown and defeat the evil vizier. Illumineers’ Quest: Palace Heist is a new co-op experience-in-a-box that pits up to 4 players against Jafar and his minions. The pre-release events in game stores and Disney store locations for Reign of Jafar start on May 30th while packs will be available everywhere June 6th.”

Disney Lorcana‘s The Collection Starter Set

But that’s not all! In order to help Disney fans make their way into the world of Disney Lorcana, Ravensburger has a new offering “designed to spark the joy of collecting all the glimmers, locations, and songs beautifully depicted on each Disney Lorcana card.” It’s the Collection Starter Set.

“The Collection Starter Set is the perfect way for Disney-lovers to jump into and start collecting cards showing off their favorite characters and moments from Disney classics,” shares Elaine Chase, Chief Marketing Officer for TCGs at Ravensburger. “Collecting is such a huge part of every trading card game and we want to show how Disney Lorcana rewards players with every pack of cards they crack open.”

We love when TCGs help make their worlds accessible to all kinds of fans.

Coming Soon to Disney Lorcana‘s World: Whispers in the Well and Darkwing Duck

In addition to all of the above, more is brewing in the world of Disney Lorcana. The game teases a truly cool-looking tenth set titled Whispers in the Well. We’ll see Whispers in the Well at the end of 2025. Key art reveals Mickey, Ariel, and… are those Disney’s Gargoyles joining the world of Disney Lorcana? No confirmation, but the tease was strong. There will also be a new type of Glimmer in Whispers in the Well.

Darkwing Duck will also join the world of Disney Lorcana after much fan desire for his inclusion. He won’t arrive until 2026, though. But we’ll be happy to see him when he does.
